Cab Door Numbers and Identifiers

ARB Numbers - California Air Resources Board licensing

Since July 2009 all refrigerated vehicles have been required to have the reefer units tested for emissions and if they pass, they must each carry a set of ARB number decals on the two sides of the units.

For Box trucks, Straight Trucks or Bobtail trucks, the reefer units are built to come out of the unit horizontally. Therefore, the number lettering has a limited amount of space in which to fit on each side. For that reason, we use 2" ARIAL BOLD NARROW font, which will come out to about 15 to 16 inches long for the number, and will fit with room on those reefers. Most customers request the number in BLACK, but you can use any contrasting color

On TRAILERS, the unit is vertical. The numbers are then created vertically to fit, reading from TOP to BOTTOM, on the unit. When specifying the creation of ARB units, please let us know if your unit is a BOX truck or a TRAILER, so we know which direction to make the numbers. The 2" (required size) numbers are about 24 inches tall overall (12 digits total).
